Elaine was also an avid collector of Elvis Presley memorabilia, starting her collection in 1972 at the age of 14. She was an exceptional artist and cake decorator and loved decorating for the holidays.Įlaine enjoyed listening to music, especially anything sung by Elvis Presley, Donnie Osmond and the Statler Brothers. She enjoyed planting and tending to flowers and bird watching. She was often referred to as Ellie Mae or Doctor Dolittle. She loved living the farm life and had a deep love for animals and would nurse the injured back to health.

Although she had no children of her own, she loved kids and had a special relationship with each of her nieces and nephews. She was very instrumental in decorating and preparing for the churches annual Hallelujah Party. After joining Cedar Grove she worked in the nursery and taught 3-4 year old Sunday School. She then worked as a custodian for the Cedar Grove Baptist Church from 1994 until her retirement in 2019.Įlaine was baptized in 1968 at Blue Summit Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating she went to work as an assembler at Dixie Narco in Willowick, Ohio and worked there until relocating to Missouri in 1989. She worked at James Walker Hospital and New Hanover Regional Medical Center in the operating rooms and in Doctors’ offices. She was a retired nurse, holding a variety of positions during her career. Her lifelong career was in the nursing field. Helen was a member of Sunset Park Baptist Church and, at one time, sang in the choir. Helen was born Jin Moore County, NC, daughter of the late Carl A. Lomax, 85, of Wilmington, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center.
